(1) The operating temperature of the grease should be at least 20-30 ° C below its dropping point.

At high temperatures, greases with good oxidation resistance, low evaporation loss, and high dropping points should be selected. When the temperature is low, greases with small starting torque and similar viscosity should be used, such as greases with compound oil as the base oil.

(2) The selected grease should be compatible with the operating speed of the friction pair being lubricated.

When the rotation speed is high, a grease with a large taper volume made of a base oil with a low viscosity should be selected; and a high-cone penetration grease made of a high-viscosity base oil should be used for the low-speed grease.

(3) The selected grease should be properly loaded.

For heavy load, grease with high viscosity and thickener content should be used. When the load is particularly large, extreme pressure additives or fillers (molybdenum disulfide, graphite) should be used; when the load is medium, the short- and medium-viscosity No. 2 consistency soap fiber grease is generally used.
